Weekend Wrap up

So my weekend was a little hectic.

Saturday, G and I left the beach to head home.
We got up early that morning and hit up the Hilton Head Diner for a little breakfast.
I had a breakfast quesadilla that was so yummy. I gorged myself after a thirty night of drinking.

The drive from Hilton Head to Knoxville isn't a bad one. It's about six hours. We passed through Columbia on our way home and luckily we got to stop and have lunch with friends there. It was a nice little break in our trip.

Sunday, we spent all morning and afternoon unpacking and cleaning the house...You know normal adult stuff.

I would have rather sat on the couch and played catch up with my tv. oh well

We had our normal Breaking Bad party at the house with our friends later that night.

Full of fun shenanigans.

I had the VMAs recorded luckily because as soon as I unglued my eyes from BB long enough to glance at Twitter, I saw all of the rants about Miley!

Um say what?

Home girl be trippin'

And what is with her tongue? I feel bad for all of the parents that had to jump up and change the channel because their 12 year olds were in the room watching. I mean come on. It was so distasteful.

Miley's mom be like...

Even Big Willie don't get down like that

Hilton Head

I've been a little absent around here in blogland lately. This past week I've been vacationing with G and his family at Hilton Head Island. It is so beautiful here.

Last night G and I went to Coco's, a bar that located right on the ocean, for happy hour. In order to reach the bar you have to walk down a half a mile of boardwalk through some marshes. It was such a cool walk. I saw crabs, oysters, clams, and fish while on our fifteen minute stroll. Fortunately, we did not see any gators. Thank the lord. But we had heard there were a couple in the marsh near us that like to make appearances to tourists.  After happy hour we went to Hudson's, a local seafood restaurant. We ate dinner on the docks and watched a storm roll in. The sights were so incredible. It was also some of the best seafood I've had.

"God hates bad tippers".... but really.

Most of you know that I am a server at a steak house here in Knoxville. For those of you who don't, you do now. I've worked at the same restaurant for a little over eight years. (I started when I was sixteen and have continued to work through college for extra cash) With that being said, I have encountered my fair share of rude people over the years.  You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat someone that is serving them.

I have had people cry, cuss, and yell at me. I have had people that pretend that I don't exist. I have had people that automatically when coming into any restaurant, complain about any and everything.

Now most of the people I encounter are polite and pleasant but there are a few odd balls.

Below if a list I have complied of people that I hate to see in restaurants:

one. People who do not tip correctly. 20% is considered appropriate and customary for good service. If you leave anything under 15% I will seriously think about spitting in your food next time... Not really because unlike you I have class, but I will just envision it all the same and laugh evil-y to myself. Most servers make $2.13/hour. Since the majority of their money is made from cash that they take home every night, taxes are taken out of their paychecks. Since only making $2.13/hour, most of the time they receive a $0 paycheck, therefore relying on their tips for sole income.

two. Camels. I get it. You're thirsty. But if after you have consumed eight or more sweet teas in a matter of minutes and you get mad because I start bringing them to you two at a time to save me from running from around like a crazy person. Suck it. The only drinks you should be downing that fast are beer of vodka martinis. Just sayin'

three. Rugrats. No it is not okay for your children to pilfer through the sugar caddies on the table. They are not there to be toys. It is also not okay for your children to take every piece of food put in front of them and throw it on the floor. If you find that "cute" you are a moron.

four. Rude People. Now when I address people that I'm unfamiliar with I use my please and thank you's, and my Sir's and Ma'am's. Hey I'm from the south. It's the thing to do.  It's how I was raised. It is not okay for your to snap your fingers at me. It is not okay to for you to bark orders at me. It is not okay for you to be anything other than polite in return.

five. Christians who leave something besides money as a tip. I'm sure most people in the south, or the Bible Belt really have seen this. Sweet little people who sit in your section and after they leave you realize that they have left no money but some pamphlet on their church or the lord in general. Now I get it you want to spread the word and that's okay. Leave it in my server book as something extra. Do not let that be the only thing you leave. I cannot go shopping on one of those little fake twenty dollar bills or even the "million dollar question" bill. I cannot tell you the amount of cross key chains, new testaments, and church pamphlets I have received over the years.  It's not cool and it's not very Christianly to do so either. I don't think you would like it if I left a Togo menu in your offering plate on Sunday.

WEEKEND WRAP UP

This weekend was pretty eventful. Unfortunately I didn't use my camera as much as I normally do.

one. I met some friends out on a patio for some much needed drinks after work. I love any light beer with lime. yum.

two. Bentley and Dallas get super cuddly in the mornings. Dallas actually fell asleep on his big brother the other day. Swoon.

three. I babysat a good friends' son and my soon to be niece. We enjoyed a pool day and a good game of hide-and-seek.

That one time that I twerked it on stage with Pretty Lights

So the other night I stayed up really really late watching hilarious YouTube videos with friends.

I finally got to see Miley twerk it... and let me tell you, she goes for it. I mean girlfriend can move. I remember my little sister watching Hannah Montana a few years ago. It's kind of hard to imagine that she was sweet and innocent not too long ago. By the way how in the world is SHE engaged to Liam Hemsworth... I mean come on. That's just ridiculous.

Next a friend introduced me to Die Antwoord. Now if you are like me and have never heard of them, check them out. Just know that they are weird as shit. Like they're bat shit crazy. I actually had heard one of their songs before between artist set changes at a festival I went to this summer. Although their music videos are crazy and outrageous, I kinda dig their music. It's like rap meets a rave meets electronic. The band is out of South Africa and came together around 2008. I'm pretty sure that they are siblings as well. Regardless just go look them up on youtube right now and watch a music video. If nothing else you will be entertained... or really confused. At first glance they look like they could be in the documentary The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia... If you haven't seen that either, watch it. It's on Netflix.

So this brings me to my dream last night. It might have been because we were watching music videos (including a Pretty Lights Bonnaroo set) last night, or it could have been the copious amounts of wine and vodka (way to mix it up, Jill) I inhaled, but I dreamt that I was at Bonnaroo, and ran into Pretty Lights or Derek for those in the know.  Now I didn't just meet him, I partied with him. Hard. After several hour of hanging out with him and his other groupies he invited me on stage for his show and wanted ME to mix my own song... Umm what? Dream come true! This part of the dream gets a little bit fuzzy. I wrote in my dream diary as much as I could remember but I tend to forget dreams really quickly. Anyways, back on topic. So 2:00AM rolls around and there I am on stage with this killer light set up all around wearing some bright neon and shades. Somehow I knew how to mix tunes like a pro and when my time comes up I mix with "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston. And the crowd goes crazy. And I feel like a bad ass. The last thing I remember about my dream was wanting to crowd surf. Hopefully I did because that would have been awesome.

MANGO SALSA

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a salsa fiend. And I'm not talking about the dance.

Really I can eat salsa with anything..

So I decided to share one of my favorite salsa recipes with y'all.

Now G is a big fan of salmon and his favorite fish topping ever is a mango salsa. Yum!
I mean Mango and salsa in the same sentence? Count me in.

1 mango, peeled, seeded, and chopped.
1/4 c. finely chopped red pepper
1 chopped green onion
2 Tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 finely chopped jalapeno
2 tablespoons lime juice
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Basically you mix all together, cover and refrigerate for half an hour before serving.

Enjoy!
