This month I participated in the May Cara Box Exchange.

It is a monthly gift swap where you pair up with two different ladies. You send a gift to one girl and receive a gift from a different person.
Each month is a new theme. This month's theme was to send something from your region.
Awesome things in the mail + Meeting new women + Encouragement = Cara Box
If you want to sign up for the June Cara Box click here

This month I got to meet two fabulous women. I sent a gift to Brittany. To see what I sent her click here

I received a gift from Laura. She is stationed with her husband in Japan.

Laura included some really awesome things from Japan:
Kokeshi doll magnets:  One of the most famous Japanese souvenirs. (Which are now on my fridge)
Sakura Hand Fan- In Japan these date back to the 6th century, the folding fan was invented in Japan. Sakura is the name for "cherry blossum" in Japanese.
Omiyage- Candies or other edibles that serve as souvenirs.

The Cara Box she sent me was SO thoughtful! I loved everything in it.
It was such a joy to get to know these two awesome ladies!

So this morning I woke up to something REALLY awesome!

The ever so clever Sarah from Venus Trapped in Mars came up with the Ivrester award!
Basically the best of the best in the drinking world get nominated.

I want to thank the beautiful Beth for nominating me!

  • Nominate 10 bloggers you think are excellent drinkers

Probably laying by the pool or on the lake with my favorite people. Then going out to dinner and enjoying yummy margs and some wine. Then followed by shots.

3. Money is no object what is your go to drink at the bar?
Top shelf marg. My weakness.

4. How many times have you played Edward 40 hands?
Never, but G did once during his college years. He didn't finish.

10. When do you know you've had too much to drink? What are your signals?
Well I get pretty loud and my voice goes up an octave.

So this morning I woke up around 11:00AM. As I laid there I just felt so ....blah. I think that's the best word for it. I felt just like a slug.

During this past semester I was getting up around 7am every morning and it just felt so good.

These past couple of weeks I have been slacking... A lot.
I can't tell you how much pizza I have inhaled in the last 14 days because it's a sickening amount.

My C25K? HA! Yeah I haven't even put on my headphones lately, let alone tied up my running shoes.
My poor new running shoes. I have put them on maybe twice since I paid so much to have them fitted.

For those who don't know me, I am an avid list maker. As of right now I have about ten to-do lists running. There is so much that I need to do around the house. I WANT to do it all, but when the time comes around I have been making excuses to put it off.

Anyways this ends now. This morning I have been searching for new classes to take. I think I have been burned out on my normal exercise classes. I am going to start going back to Zumba again, because that shit makes me sweat SO much.

Do you all have any tips on how to get past a slump in your life?

Morning all!

I had such a fun Memorial Day weekend!

Since school has ended, I often find myself with ample amounts of time on my hands.
It's almost like a long weekend every weekend for me. But hey, who's complaining?
So we started the long weekend off with a bang:

G and I got all dressed up for a Madmen themed birthday party. We made sure to have a drink on the way. (Please excuse the chipped polish).

Saturday I noticed my orchid was about to bloom. If anyone has had and orchid and then waited on it to re-bloom, they know it feels like it takes FOREVER!

Saturday was also National Wine Day!
So of course I could be found meticulously cleaning my house while drinking wine at noon. I was being productive, so I had no qualms about starting drinking before I had had lunch. Also if you want to really enjoy housework then listen to the "90's Pop" station on Pandora while you are doing it. It's pure gold!  Spice girls, Britney, Hansen, galore!

About halfway through the day, when I pretty much stopped finished cleaning, I decided to organize our bar.

I found this little china hutch on Craigslist not too long ago for 50 bucks!
I put some new knobs on that sucker and tada! I now have a pretty awesome bar!
It still needs paint or something, but that will be a task for a different day.
I recently acquired some more glasses to add to my Riedel collection and in order to make them fit in my hutch I needed to get rid of a few things.

These are my favorite brand of wine glasses. They are crystal and hand made in Germany. My sister and brother-in-law gave us a complete set of red and white wine glasses and also a set of champagne glasses for Christmas this year. The Riedel Swirl glasses I found are a great addition to our collection.

Living with a bartender means two things:
1. I will always have an awesome drink in my hand at all times.
2. Our bar is OVERFLOWING with bar utencils/glasses/randoms etc.

So I decided that I was going to clean and condense our collection of bar ware and give a bunch to someone less fortunate than me (aka one of my besties that doesn't have an extensive bar setup like mine). You're welcome Megan  :)

Here is what I found in my bar:

I ended up pulling all of the drawers out and it's amazing what I didn't remember I had.

I actually found about five more wine tools after I took this picture.

If you do not have a wine ring, you should! It prevents the drip from the bottle.

I love my martini olive picks and I use them all the time. Bleu cheesed stuffed olives are a must at my house!

And the bar is not complete without my over-sized shaker. We use this if we have 8+ people over to make shots/drinks with. Its one of my favorite pieces.

I also love my cocktail napkins that I have picked up over the years.

And here are all the glasses I decided to part with.

Finally Memorial Day came around.

We stayed at the pool all day and drank and then finished the night with a cookout at our friends' house.

I think Bentley enjoyed himself!

What fun things did you do this holiday weekend?

Happy Friday!

Today I am linking up with Hang on, Honey for the If I won the lottery link up!

There are so many things girlfriend would do if I won the lottery!

1. I would first and foremost pay off all my debt. I cut a check and pay off the new house G and I just bought. Then I would pay off my credit card.

2. I would then pay off all of my parents debts. Their house etc...

3.  I then would take a ballin' vaca with all my friends and family to somewhere tropical. I'm talking Saint Lucia or somewhere, people.

4. Like Dave Matthews, I would own my own vineyard. Annnnnd I would have wine on tap in my kitchen. Wine me please!

5. Finally I would squirrel a lot of it away so I would always have it to fall back on.

And finally I will leave you with an adorable picture of Dallas when he was a pup I just found on my computer.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Just because I'm an alcoholic... according to my mother.

Morning friends!

So many of you know that I am battling back and forth with my weight.

The scale goes up and it goes down.
Now, I have been eating pretty well these past few weeks because I was leaving for the beach.

The other day my mother told me that I will never actually get back to where I was because I drink too much

Anyone who knows me knows that this is partially true. Do I drink a lot? Yes. Do I drink too much? Nope.

Almost all of the Alcohol we took to HangoutFest.
After posting this picture, maybe my mother is right? Heh nope!

Do any of you have great recipes for low calorie drinks that you enjoy and would love to share?

Good morning all!

So if you've stopped by blog in the past week you have probably noticed that I have been MIA.

I have been in Gulf Shores, Alabama for the HANGOUT MUSIC FESTIVAL! Eek!

Let me just tell you that I have SO much fun.

Fifteen of my best friends and I split a beach house for the week. It was a three story house with a wrap around two floor balcony with our own private pool. And we filled up the pool the first night with 300 glow sticks and threw in all of the pool furniture....

We all took bikes to ride the 1.5 mi to the festival. It sure beats walking in the heat!

I saw and met some really interesting people. I saw people get arrested. I saw a proposal on the beach during the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. I also witnessed my neighbor to my beach house overdose and be taken off in an ambulance. This past week has been very intense.

Some of my favorite shows I saw this weekend were Tom Petty, Umphreys Mcgee, and Stevie Wonder. And let me just tell you Tom Petty still has it!

This was actually my second time seeing Stevie play. The first was back in 2010 at Bonnaroo. Sunday night was actually the his late mom's birthday and during his show he cried on stage in front of 80,000 people on the beach! If you were there and didn't tear up with him then you have no soul.

Stevie Wonder

An awesome light show!

What vacations are y'all planning to take this summer?

Hope everyone is have a happy hump day!

Good morning all!

So if you have stopped by my little piece of the interwebs the past few days, I am sure that you have noticed some changes!

I recently began blogging about a month ago and had been on a hunt for a blog design.

I checked out many blog designers but could not find the right fit for me. Several I felt were intimidating or too busy or just didn't seem very nice.

Since being such a newb to blogging world, I needed someone that I could ask a thousand questions and not annoy the heck out of them.

I found her!

Sarah from Venus Trapped In Mars is AMAZEBALLS. She is super sweet and funny.

She did not get irritated at all my my thousands of questions, in fact she WANTED me to ask questions.

I filled out her Questionnaire that she emailed me about my "dream" blog design and sent it back to her. She promptly responded and got to work on my header.

I gave her a list of my favorite colors and likes and she blew the design out of the water!

She is my total girl crush right now!

If your are in the market for a new blog design, I can tell you that you will not be disappointed with Sarah. She is wonderful and will go above and beyond all of your expectations.

Check out her portfolio at her blog design site Social and Chic

Sarah if your are reading this: Thank you so much for your hard work. I love everything about my design!
PS. I want to have your babies... Mkaythanks.

Also,  I will be leaving for the Hangout Music Festival tonight around midnight.

Expect awesome pictures and stories to come! I will try my best to post as much as I can while I am there.

Festivals tend to get a little crazy y'all...

Morning lovelies,

So since spring is upon us and summer is knocking at our door, I have been trying to spruce up my flower beds with gorgeous flowers.

Some of my favorite flowers are peonys, ranunculus, and climbing roses.

About a month ago I planted six different climbing roses all over my property. They are doing well and already are covered with buds. I cannot wait until they bloom! Pictures soon to come!

Lately I have been having a hard time finding my favorite flower, the peony, especially for a decent price. I can find the baby plants/ or eyes as they're called but apparently they are hard to grow. Only about 50-70% of them actually come up.

Luckily, I was walking through Home Depot today (looking for more climbing roses) and I found them! 12 bucks for a mature gallon plant.

So of course I got six.

And I planted them all today.

I purchased two light pinks, two whites, one deep pink, and one purple. SCORE!

Peonys, Peonys, Peonys... Say that three times fast... Dirty!

Aren't they pretty y'all?

What are some of your favorite flowers or gardening tips?

PS. Notice anything new? I will be talking all about it tomorrow!

Finish That Sentence....

So today I am linking up with Holly and Jake for Finish That Sentence!

Here goes!

Unlike my sibling(s) I am the favorite in my family. and every one knows it!

The four on the left are the siblings. Jack on the right is my sis's Hubs.

My best friend says... I have two personalities; sober Jill and drunk Jill aka Taylor (My drunk alter ego)

People call me... Jill, Jillian, Jildo, Taylor...

The best part of my day... Wine O'clock

I really don't understand... Why my phone is so slow when it's  supposed to be the fastest phone around. Geez.

I get really annoyed... 1. I am out of wine. 2. my house is a mess. 3. I am hungry.

There's nothing like a... A bottomless glass of wine on my deck.

Lately, I can't get enough... Bananas and peanut butter. Yum!

One thing I am NOT is... Uptight... I like to let things roll.

I spent too much money on... Boos. I need to learn how to stomp my own grapes or something.

I want to learn.... See previous question, but also how to use my hours in the day more wisely. Girlfriend is BUSY!

If I ever met ake in real life , I would... Buy him a drink and we'd go from there.

I can't stop... Craving mexican food. THIS IS A PROBLEM!

Never have I ever... not finished a glass of wine. Can't let that ish go to waste now!

Reese Witherspoon... Is my homegirl. I love her and the whole ATL thing was a big misunderstanding, she's perfect... Don't mess with Reese, y'all!

Everything Burns.

Morning loves,

So today I am teaming up with Alex and Lex for Non-Scale Victories for the first time.

I've only stepped on the scale twice in the last month. Once before my cleanse, and once after.

I am trying to not let myself be ruled by a number anymore. (Key word is Trying!)

So I have started the C25k programs a couple of times but always make up an excuse  get too busy to finish. I have finally started again and for the first time i'm doing it outside and not on a treadmill.

Let me tell you running is so much easier on a treadmill.

Living in East Tennessee, its very rare that you can find truly flat ground.

I basically run one big loop in my neighborhood and start it so that I am walking the slight incline and running the decline. Smart huh?

This brings me to my Non-Scale Victory

I have finished the first week of my C25K and it's gotten easier! I also have finished one week straight of Jillian Michaels 30 day shred. Damn my body burns all over. I can see why this is so effective!
I mean EVERYTHING hurts... In a good way of course...

Have y'all checked out some of the before and after pictures from the 30 Day Shred?
If not Google them. This is what made me want to try this video.

I love her because she is so tough... and we share our names... just different spelling.

What are some of your Non-Scale Victories?

Hump day, Schmump day.

Happy Hump Day!

The past few days have been SO busy and I haven't had time to blog.

I took my last final yesterday morning! Hurray! I am done for the summer.

So like any college student that just got finished with finals, I drank... a lot! My head hurt so bad this morning.
We grilled out at a friends and enjoyed the awesome spring weather.

This morning I got up super early and got my hair highlighted. My girl Kirby does amazing work. My blonde looks awesome. I am now beach ready!

One week from today I will have my ass in the sand listening to live music. I cannot wait! I literally get all anxious when I think about it - Partly because I am so excited, and partly because I have to be in a swimsuit in front of 100,000 people all week. Ugh!

I also will be back at the beach in Hilton Head the last week of August. My goal is to have lost at least 25 lbs by then. I really was to rock a bikini by the end of this summer. I don't hate my Tankinis, I just resent them a little bit because of my body image. This is something that I have definitely been struggling with for awhile, but its getting better.

Also, be on the lookout for my new blog design coming soon! I am so excited about it!

Hope you all are having a fabulous Wednesday!

Knoxville to Nashville and back.

I hope everyone had a fabulous Cinco de Mayo.

My weekend was so busy that today I am trying to play catch up on all the loads of laundry and housework I missed.

Friday morning G and I left for Nashville to see The Black Keys that night with ten of our friends.

We only had two mishaps during the trip.

1. G let us run out of gas around Lebanon. He thought he could make it to the next exit. WRONG. We sat on the side of the interstate for over an hour waiting on road side assistance to bring us gas. Yes, I ridiculed him the entire time.

A tree growing out the side of a mountain with lavender bell flowers  that we saw while we were parked.
2. We lost our friend Zac in downtown Nashville after the concert. We managed to lose him in the pouring rain, with no cell phone, or rain jacket. Two hours later he drunkenly stumbled into two girls that lent him their phone to call us. Total shit-show.

Last night G and I both had to work, so unfortunately we didn't get to celebrate with all of our friends. BUT knowing how much I love this holiday he made me a celebratory marg at home. He makes me swoon!

All in all I would call this weekend a win.

Now off to do copious amounts of laundry.

Happy Monday, y'all!
