FIVE THINGS I WISH I KNEW WHEN I WAS 18

Hi there!

I came across this topic for a post when I was reading Kaitlyn at Wifessionals post the other day about feeling uninspired when it comes to blogging. She asked her readers to submit ideas that she posted under her "inspired" tab to give other bloggers ideas for blog post. Great idea Kaitlyn! So today I am using one of her ideas, which brings me to the topic: Five Things I wish I Knew at 18.

1. My parents are always (usually) right. Yes, there I said it. Looking back on my later teenage years, they ended up being right every single time. I hated it but they were. My high school boyfriend who I was "in love" with and thought I would marry him..nope! Dad hated him right off the bat. Turns out that guy was a jerk and I should have listened.

2. Be more selective when it comes to guys. My 18 year old self was boy crazy. I had just gotten out of my long term high school relationship (see above). There are several boys I was had not dated. I wish that I would have been more selective.

3. Need to be eat healthy and excise or you will balloon! I heard it all my life; my bad eating and drinking would catch up to me... and it did. 18 year old Jill, you shouldn't live off of bar food and vodka cranberry's for your entire freshman year. Although I remember devising a plan towards the end of that year to save calories by drinking Everclear and Crystal Light... Let me just tell you how that one turned out; Shit faced and still hydrated within 3 drinks. I thought I was a genius.

4. Posting 1000's of Facebook pictures of yourself drunk is not cute. So I checked my Facebook and out of the 70 albums on there probably 4 of them are not from my college drunken years. Awesome. Here are some of the ridiculous pictures:
Oh God. 18 year old Jill excessive amounts of cleavage are not cool either even it is Halloween.
Its also not cool to pass out in public.
.
Younger version of myself you should probably lose the "duck face" too.

5. When you start something, see it through. There are so many things that I started and never finished when I was young. It is important to finish a goal or a project and to never leave loose ends.

What would you tell your 18 year old self?

  2. OH wow. Yeah number 1. I did actually thank my mom when I graduated college for giving me a curfew, unlike all of my high school friends, because it saved me from getting arrested and having any kind of record when I started job hunting. At the time I thought she was ruining my life.
